Director, Cancer Imaging Informatics Lab

John Freymann leads the Cancer Imaging Informatics Lab, a Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) support service to the Cancer Imaging Program (CIP) at NCI. He has supported CIP’s informatics agenda since 2002, helping develop and implement its public cancer imaging data sharing and associated services to the cancer imaging research community. He led the design and development of projects to develop the open-source PACS server NBIA, and the imaging sharing service The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA). He is the project manager for TCIA and has helped coordinate multiple multi-institutional research projects that have contributed to and leverage the imaging data that it contains.

Before coming to FNLCR, he worked at an international development firm creating and delivering integrative policy models for development, assisting governmental and non-governmental agencies in planning in the areas of reproductive health, population and family planning, maternal and child health, and environment.
